Lake Moon Festival: Celebrate the Best of Summer

This was the official website for the 2015 2nd annual Lake Moon Festival. The content below is from the sites archived pages. I attended the festival with my family while visiting grandparents in Mequon. I even participated in the 5K race. It was a great way to end our vacation. However as we arrived in our town, a mini-disaster awaited us. Main Street was a parking lot and people in hazmat suits were blocking traffic. We eventually learned that they were investigating a biohazard risk when a medical waste disposal vehicle was stolen. My neighbor works for a company which is a national service that disposes of medical and biohazardous waste generated by research and medical services. From how containerized these services are, there is very unlikely any risk, but until Homeland Security agrees, we were stuck for 4 hours. But we really did enjoy this trip. We were all looking forward to attending the 2016 Lake Moon Festival, but learned from the festival's Facebook page that they were not going to hold one that year. Let's hope the festival returns in 2017.

"The 2014 Lake Moon Festival was such an amazing experience! As an athlete, I was thrilled to compete in the 5K race and managed to place 5th overall. It was the perfect way to kick off what was going to be an exciting journey as a student-athlete at Concordia University. Just a few weeks before the festival, my family surprised me with a brand new set of women's golf clubs for my birthday. I had my sights set on joining the women's golf team, so I was eager to put those clubs to use on Concordia's beautiful campus. While the festival didn't have too much information specifically about the golf program, it definitely showcased what an incredible community I'd be joining. The music, art, and family activities created such a vibrant atmosphere. I could feel the school spirit and tight-knit community that makes Concordia so special. Winding down the night watching the fireworks over Lake Michigan was the perfect cap to the evening. Even though I didn't see much about women's golf, the Lake Moon Festival still got me incredibly excited to start my freshman year. I felt so welcomed by the fun, inclusive vibe. It made me confident that Concordia was the perfect place for me to pursue my athletic dreams while being part of an amazing community. I'll definitely be making the Lake Moon Festival an annual tradition!" Kaitlin Reddington
